Abstract: In the present work SDS-PAGE criteria of seed protein was performed on 47 taxa of the Rosaceae senu lato. Taxa were selected so as to represent the accepted four subfamilies in the family (Maloideae, Prunoideae, Rosoideae and Spiraeoideae) and most of the tribes included in them. The obtained data were numerically analyzed by the UPGMA cluster analysis using the NTsys-pc. The results revealed that although the family as a whole represents a clearly monophyletic lineage. The studied taxa were distributed across the constructed phenograms independent of the previous suprageneric classification, particularly in members of the subfamilies Rosoideae and Spiraeoideae. A revision of the suprageneric classification of the family was suggested (particularly in the Spiraeoideae and Rosoideae).
