Abstract:
The current study aims at investigating the effect of chicken and sheep manure
at rates of 20,40, and 80 t ha‾1, as well as inorganic fertilizers
at rate of 400 kg N ha‾1, 200 kg P2O5
ha‾1 and 100 kg K2O ha‾1 on yields,
nutrient content, leaf area and dry weight of onion yield. The results revealed
that there was no significant difference in yield of onion bulbs due to chicken
manure in both years, but in general the yield increased significantly with
sheep manure and inorganic fertilizer. In general the yield of onion bulbs was
higher in the second year compared with the first year.
There
was a significant difference in leaf area of onion only between sheep manure
at level of 20 and 40 t/h with 20t ha‾1 of chicken manure only
in first year. Under certain circumstances it was found that some treatments
showed a significant effect on nutrient concentration of plant tissue except
potassium.
