Abstract: Bryophytes are well known for their bioactive compounds and antimicrobial activities. In present study antibacterial activity of Atrichum undulatum (Hedw.) P. Beauv. was evaluated using different extracts of the moss taxa. Agar diffusion method was used to assess the antibacterial activities against selected bacterial strains with ampicillin as positive control. The ethanolic extract of moss showed a better effect than the methanolic extract. The maximum effect was observed against Escherichia coli followed by Salmonella typhimurium and Bacillus subtilis. The present study projects Atrichum undulatum as natural antibacterial agent.
