Abstract: A pot experiment was conducted with five levels of salinity (EC 0, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0 and 8.0 dSm-1) obtained by adding NaCl with soil in order to study the effect of salinity on vegetative growth of maize. Higher salinity levels caused significant reduction in growth parameters like leaf length, leaf breadth, leaf number and leaf area, root dry weight, shoot dry weight and total dry weight. However, it had less effect on root: shoot ratio.
