Abstract: In this study, the effects of the recent legal arrangements concerning the fruit-vegetable wholesale markets in Turkey have been analysed through surveys, especially on various sectors in fruit-vegetable production and marketing in zmir province. In the study, first of all, the place and importance of wholesale markets within the fresh fruit-vegetable marketing system and then the changes caused by the legal arrangements were discussed. In zmir province, as a result of the surveys carried out with fruit-vegetable producers, managers and mediators at the wholesale markets and chambers and associations of retailers, problems in the application of recent legal arrangements were determined. Furthermore, precautions that need to be taken to solve the problems were also discussed.
