Abstract: In this study, we proposed to design a Reliable and Power Efficient Multicast Routing (RPEMR) protocol by using swarm intelligence with the help of reliability metric. In this protocol, reliability metric is computed by each node based on the power, bandwidth and mobility. Then the reliable nodes with the high reliability metric are determined. The swarms forward and backward agents construct a backbone for multicasting, by estimating the best path which connects the reliable nodes through intermediate nodes. The established paths provide reliable, shorter and faster communication. By simulation results, we show that the proposed protocol provides reliable and power efficient multicasting routing, by attaining high packet delivery ratio and low energy consumption, compared to the existing protocols.
