A Prioritized Dynamic Channel Assignment Scheme Based on Mobility in Micro-cellular Networks
G. Sivaradje and P. Dananjayan

Abstract: In future wireless networks, bandwidth demands could fluctuate abruptly due to movement of high data rate users. Dynamic bandwidth allocation plays a key role in ensuring that mobile calls are not disrupted after they are admitted into the network. In this paper, a dynamic channel assignment technique is proposed to prioritize the handoff request to improve the quality of service as perceived by the users. In order to prioritize the handoff request a queuing priority scheme is also proposed. This technique employs the queuing priority scheme to enhance the performance of the system in terms of reduced blocking probability of handoff calls and forced termination. Simulation results show that the proposed technique outperforms the fixed channel assignment technique. The results have been plotted between traffic intensity per cell in erlang and blocking probability in terms of originating calls and handoff calls.
