Tissue Engineering: Why So Much Hype?

Abstract: Tissue engineering has been defined as the application of principles and methods of engineering and life science towards fundamental understanding of structure function relationship in normal and pathological tissue and development of biological substitute to restore maintain or improve tissue functions. In recent times there’s much hype about the use of tissue engineering techniques in medicine and dentistry. The present study focused on the practical implications of using the tissue engineering techniques in medical and dental treatments and critically evaluates the ground reality behind the approach.
