Identification of Flavonoids and Antioxidant Potential of Cassia tora L.

Abstract: Callus culture Cassia tora L. was done using nodal explant. Maximum callus induction was obtained on basal MS medium supplemented with 2, 4-D (2.5 mg L-1), NAA (2.5 mg L-1) and Kinetin (0.02 mg L-1). Highest growth index was obtained at 6th week of subculture in both the plants. Analysis of plant parts revealed maximum content of flavonoids in leaves and minimum in stem. Callus culture also showed significant content of flavonoids. Plant parts and in vitro cultures were also studied for their antioxidant potential.
