Abstract:
When oviposited solitaries and gregarious females of desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria were exposed to hexane and ethanol extracts of froth or eggs during oviposition period, they showed significant reduction in the number of egg pods per female. The number of eggs per pod was significantly reduced. The injurious effect on fecundity and fertility of ‘pod factors’ was higher by using hexane extract compared by ethanol. The reproductive potential of the females treated by ‘pod factors’ never exceeds 50% of the control except in three cases out of 16
