Assessment of HAM and PEM to Find Analytical Solution for Calculating Displacement Functions of Geometrically Nonlinear Prestressed Cable Structures with Concentrated Mass

Abstract:
In this study, two powerful analytical methods, called He’s Parameter-Expanding Methods (PEM) and Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM) are used to calculating displacement functions of geometrically nonlinear prestressed cable structures. In this study, the results of two methods are compared and it is shown that one term in series expansions is sufficient to obtain a solution by using the PEM. Comparison of the obtained solutions with those obtained using numerical method shows that two methods are effective and convenient for solving this problem. These two methods introduce a capable tool for solving this kind of nonlinear problems.
