Effect of Skew Angle on Distribution of Bending Moments in Bridge Slabs
Maher Shaker Qaqish

Abstract:
A finite element model was carried out for prestressed precast beams and cast in situ slab bridge. This structural model was subjected to 1.8 AASHTO truck loading, 1.8 AASHTO equivalent distributed loading and abnormal loading. The results for transverse and longitudinal moments were compared with the results obtained from AASHTO specifications. This comparison shows that applying AASHTO specification for slab bridge deck is safe and economical.
