Optical and Electrical Properties of Borate Glasses in the System: B2O3/Na2O/TiO2

Abstract:
Dielectric constant, ε, loss tan δ and, dc, conductivity of B2O3 / Na2O/ TiO2 glass system have been investigated with varying the concentrations of TiO2. The optical properties of this glass system were studied with respect to the density, refractive index, optical energy gap, Urbach energy and polarizability. The oxide ion polarizabilities were deduced from two different experimental quantities viz., refractive index and optical band-gap energy. Results obtained are discussed in terms of the glass structure.
