This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of adding chicory fructans in feed on growth performance, intestinal length and structure of the broiler chicken. Inulin or oligofructose improved (P< 0.05) body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass weight, carcass percentage and increased the gut length of female birds. The beta fructans also reduced (P<0.05) serum cholesterol and abdominal fat of broilers. Inulin as well as oligofructose treated females had a more dense jejunum villi distribution in the small intestine. PDFCitation
