Assaying the Antioxidant Activity of Banana Peel

M. Sathya

Abstract:
The fresh green and yellow banana peel of five different varieties of (Musa, CV, Cavendish) fruits were treated with 70% ethanol, further partitioned with chloroform and ethylacetae (EtoAc) sequentially. The antioxidant activities of the extracts were evaluated by using hydroxyl radical scavenging activity, lipid peroxidation assay, estimation of vitamin C, catalase, peroxidase. The EtoAc extract of type-III and water extract of type-IV had shown the antioxidant activity.
