Is haptoglobin amarker for oxidative stress?
Dr.Parveen Jahan
Free Hb released after haemolysis potently induces oxidative stress (Gregory J. Kato 2009). Haptoglobin by binding to free haemoglobin reduces the haemoglobin related oxidative stress , thus it can be considered as a marker of antioxidant.
