ABSTRACT
During a study on the species diversity of the trichodinid ciliates from September 1995 to December 1997, Trichodina diaptomi, T. heterodentata and T. oligocotti were recorded from some freshwater fish in the state of West Bengal, India. These three species were found for the first time in the Indian as well as in the south Asian region. Photomicrographs and morphometric data are presented for each species.
