ABSTRACT
Only seven such miospore have been collected from the core sample collected at the depth of the 2312 ft. They have close affirities with the Genus Retusotrilete. But differs from other species of Genus Retusotrilete. It is considend to be sp. nov.

INTRODUCTION
The Polynological study of permian deposite right upto Triassic has been neglected although it is very important to determine the parental relationship of disperesed Spores in the rock of Pakistan. Geo, survey of Pakistan in this number of memoirs has emphasized the need and utility of study microflora of Pakistan especially permian deposite.
Genus Retusotrilete has been assigned to Devonian period. Retusotriletes spores were produced by a number of plants such as Renalia of Devonian period. Its presence during Permian period shows that genus Retusotrilete was redeposited. It was studied by Khan (1995) in the light of recommendation made by Shah (1977). Khurshid (1995) has also found genus Retusotrilete in permian Deposite. It has close affinity with Genus Retusotrilete but differ in some aspect which are not comparable to other species of said Genus. It was considered to be new species give the name Retusotrilete punjabansis after province of Punjab (Fig. 1).
MATERIALS AND METHODS
A core sample was kindly handed over to me obtained from Borehole near Jhang by Geo. Sur. of Pakistan. Core sample was between 2195-2268 ft. Sample No. 2312 was treated to study the Genus Retusotrilete.
Method: Maccratian and Isolation was made as recommended by Smith and Butterworth (1967). The isolated matrial was mounted in glycerine Jelly and preserved in the Paleaobotanical Laboratory at Punjab University, Lahore.

Retusotrilete punjabensis. Sp. nov.
Diagnosis: Miospore, subtriangular. Side straight, trilete marking distinct and raised. Arms of marking are accompanied by dark brown labrun. Kyrtome present inter-radially along the equatorial line. Arms of the Y marking are accompanied by slightly raised medium brown labrum. Exine laevigate probably due to corrison.
Fig. 1: | Retusotrilete punjabensis |
Description: Miospore radial, subtriangular, straight side angles bluntly rounded. Trilete marking slightly raised, suture smooth, bifurcating at the equatorial line. Curvaturae imperfactae present. Granulate type ornamentation seems to be present. Kyrtome present interradially along the equatorial line.
Dimension: Specimen counted = seven; Equatorial diameter = 33×29.7 um
Comparison: Inter-radially placed kyrtome along with curvaturae imperfectae which differentiate it from the rest of known Retusotrilete spp. The genus was recorded in Devonian and its presence may suggest it to be redeposited.
Derivative of Name: After Punjab Province of Pakistan.
