Antidiabetic activity of Feronia limonia Fruit and Artocarpus heterophyllus Bark extracts used as edible medicine by local tribal population of Vellore districts were analyzed in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats. Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of high contents of flavonoid in methanolic extract of Feronia limonia and ethyl acetate extract of Artocarpus heterophyllus compared to other extracts. Diabetes was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (45 mg kg-1). Diabetic rats were treated with these extracts at a dose of 200 and 400 mg kg-1 for 30 days. Hypoglycemic activities of extract treated diabetic rats were assessed by the percentage reduction in fasting blood glucose level. Feronia limonia extract showed significant (p<0.05) decrease in blood glucose level when compared to the Artocarpus heterophyllus extract. Treatment of these extracts also had significant decrease in serum cholesterol level and regain in body weight of diabetic rats. The results suggest that unique bioactive constituents responsible for improving type 2 diabetic rats are present and further has to be purified , isolated and characterized to contribute better therapy for NIDDM. |

Web usage mining applies data mining techniques to records of Web site visits. To better understand patterns of usage, analysis should take the semantics of visited URLs into account. Even though the Web site under study is part of a nonprofit organization that does not sell any products, it was crucial to understand who the users were what they looked at and how their interests changed with time, all of which are important questions in Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Hence, researchers present an approach for discovering and tracking evolving user profiles. We also describe how the discovered user profiles can be enriched with explicit information need that is inferred from search queries extracted from Web log data. Profiles are also enriched with other domain-specific information facets that give a panoramic view of the discovered mass usage modes. |

Organised retail in the past one decade is growing at a faster rate in India. Albeit the burgeoning size, the organised retailers are finding it difficult to be in black. One of the marketing strategies is to focus on retaining the existing customers as they are five times more profitable than new ones. In this study the author examine the factors that influence the customers switching behavior in organized retail. The study was done based on certain factors which are recognized to be the main dimensions which are congruent with the switching cost. The researcher used structured questionnaire as instrument and collected data from the customers of organized retail stores in India. The collected data were analyzed with the help of statistical tool, namely, Multiple Regression through SPSS. The Regression tests have revealed that the demographic variables: Patronage period, Purchase size, Profession will have significant impact on switching behavior dimensions. The study concludes with suggestions on increasing switching cost to the customers of retail stores in order to retain loyalty in the long run. |

The study was aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic activities of ethanolic extract of Cassia fistula Linn. (ELE) in experimental rats. Anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using carrageenan induced rat paw oedema and cotton pellet granuloma models, while the antipyretic effect was evaluated using against TAB vaccine induced pyrexia. Various doses of ELE (50, 100, 250, 500 and 750 mg kg-1b.wt.,) were tested for its anti-inflammatory effect and the results were compared with standard drugs (diclofenac and indomethacin). Results indicate that the ELE significantly inhibited both the carrageenan-induced hind paw oedema and cotton-pellet granuloma in a dose dependant manner. ELE at 250 and 500 mg kg-1b.wt., reduced TAB vaccine induced pyrexia in rats after 60 min, whereas at 750 mg kg-1b.wt., it reduced the vaccine induced elevated body temperature post 30 min of its administration. The results suggest that there exists a potential benefit in utilizing Cassia fistula Linn. in treating conditions associated with inflammation and fever. These properties can be attributed to the presence of phyto constituents present in ELE and the exact mechanism needs to be elucidated. |

Today wireless communications is acting as a major role in networks. Through year-end 2006, the employee’s ability to install unmanaged access points will result is more than 50% of enterprises exposing sensitive information through the wireless virtual private networks (VPN). It enables you to send the data between two computers across a shared or public network in a manner that emulates the properties of a private link. The basic requirements for VPN are User Authentication, Address Management, Data Compression, Data Encryption and Key Management. The private links are established in VPN using Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) and Layer-Two-Tunneling Protocol (L2TP). These protocols are satisfies VPN requirements in five layers. In user authentication layer, multiple trusted authorities using Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) do the authentication process. In fourth layer the data encryption part using RC4 called Microsoft-Point-to-Point Encryption (MPPE) method. The aim of this paper, instead of multiple trusted authorities we focus single trusted authority using public key cryptography RSA in EAP and also we include AES-Rijndael stream cipher algorithm instead of RC4 for MPPE. We propose new type of hybrid encryption technique using AES-Rijndael for encryption and decryption and RSA used for key management. |
